History
It's easy to fall in love at first site.
It just happened. Love at first site! We were at the Allison BMW of Mountain View - where Wynn was looking at Mini's. Initially my brother-in-law Wynn was the one that talked about getting a BMW and that I should get one as well. There sat my '97 jet black on black 528i with only 78761 on the odo - she was hot. It was November 8th of 2003 and her black paint glinted brilliantly in the light, and her thick angles were ferocious, powerful, sexy!
Rocco Marik, my sales agent, made sure I knew that the car had only one prior owner who was a return customer at Allison BMW and always treated his cars well. I must say the car was "like-new" and I bought her that same night.
I left the dealership late in the evening and it was raining hard making the trip home feel like driving on the German wet roads.
I named her "Trinity" (reference to Carrie-Anne Moss' character from the Matrix) because she looks so sleek and strong in her tight black paint.
This Fünfer, as they are called in Germany, is a garage queen and comes out on nice sunny afternoons or on bright mornings. She's been on nice outings to the wine country in Napa and Sonoma but loves to take her long drives to Laguna Seca and Infineon race ways. She's a frequent visitor at the BMW GGC CCA Festorics events held at Laguna Seca for their Historics weekend. She's recently been on a back roads tour through the Carmel mountains. A very sweet ride that tested the car nicely.
This car is made to be driven, though... and it begs you to put it through its paces. It is an absolute joy to blast up a curvy mountain road! In return I’ve made sure the Dinan5 gets the best, and I’ve been quite anal about its care. It receives its maintenance from the dealer shop at East Bay BMW in Pleasanton. All of it's Dinan upgrades were installed at Dinan of Mountain View by talented and experienced technicians armed with the very latest technology and equipment.
There are a couple of items that should be noted. She had her right rear window lift replaced in september of 2004 at Motor Speed West in Santa Clara. New rear Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 tires were put on in June 2005. It currently has the SRS air-bag warning light on - it has been determined that the seat-belt buckle sensor on the drivers side needs to be replaced - a $450 operation. On Hold. Installed a Griot's Italian air horn - rated at 139 dB - which makes her sound very European.
Car enthusiast and experts describe the E39 Fünfer Series as "quite possibly the best sport sedan ever". Introduced first at the 1995 Frankfurt Auto Show, the fourth-generation 5er was a clear departure from its predecessor.
